Sacramento County extends from the low delta lands between the Sacramento River and San Joaquin River, including Suisun Bay, north to about ten miles (16 km) beyond the State Capitol and east into the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountain.

Placer County, located North East in the Greater Sacramento Metropolitan Region. The gem of the county is scenic North Lake Tahoe, known for its beauty, size and clarity. Placer County also have numerous small towns known for their unique and rich heritage that make up the landscape along Interstate 80, which is something they are also quite proud of in Placer.
Placer County is in both the Sacramento Valley and Sierra Nevada regions, in what is known as the Gold Country. The county stretches roughly 65 miles from Sacramento's suburbs at Roseville to the Nevada border and the shore of Lake Tahoe.

El Dorado County is located entirely in the Sierra Nevada, from the historic Gold Country in the western foothills to the High Sierra in the east. It consists of rolling hills and mountainous terrain; is a total area of 1,786 square miles, of which 78 square miles is water. El Dorado County was once home to the Maidu, Washoe, and MiwokNative American tribes, and is notable for being the site of the 1848 gold discovery that sparked the California Gold Rush.

Yolo County is the Western section of Sacramento's Metropolitan Region. tucked away between Lake Tahoe and San Francisco, but it is a world apart. The majority of Yolo County remains a relatively rural agricultural region, has a total area of 1,024 square miles, of which 8.9 square miles is water.

San Joaquin County, is located in Northern California's Central Valley just east of the very highly populated nine-county San Francisco Bay Area region and is separated from the Bay Area by the Diablo Range of low mountains with its Altamont Pass. The county has a total area of 1,426 square miles, of which 35 square miles is water.
San Joaquin County’s thriving cultural scene provides much to explore. Historical Museums, Stockton Symphony, Civic Theatre, active waterfront off Delta River and San Joaquin Rivers, offering hiking, cycling and paddling options.
